Well  it IS nice to know ( I had already figured it out too this morning when I logged in) BUT BUT BUT it begs a couple REALLY important questions.

1 ~ WHY did DA feel it needed to make it more difficult to move things around in groups by making us have more things to do when the previous way worked just fine as was?
( I am sure some damn fool Founder "Oopsied" and deleted something from their precious group and went crying to DA to "fix it" to save him from his/her own incompetence)

2 ~ With "Star"/Fav's STILL under the ( Friggin STUPID ) "Max 10" Rule ( meaning you can only do 10 per day) WHY are they pushing this whole "Star/Fav" thing thru now? And making that THE most important feature while perusing a groups galleries... Doesn't make one bit of sense in any form.

3 ~ DA seemed to have "forgot" ( AGAIN!) to mention this little change that effected EVERY group and EVERY persons personal gallery or if they did *I* sure as Hades didn't get any memo ( Of course they no likie lil 'ole ME at ALL!)

4 ~ WTF are they going to screw up (even worse) Next??
It's obvious they have NO idea what they are doing and/or take some perverted glee in changing stuff to see how many folks they can piss off and how quick.

1- To be honest, sometimes I don't particularly "prefer" certain changes (in anything, not just DeviantArt, but everything else that has updates and upgrades and new things for me to have to learn or figure out how to use again :faint: ... you know, like softwares or phones :stare:), but at the same time I can imagine that if I owned a website, I would want to keep up with the trends  If they don't modernize things they'll be left behind, and probably won't be attracting new members/investors/etc  ... a company is actually like real estate, Eric ;) the current owners must keep it modernized because companies get sold at any given time, and just like you would want to keep your house looking livable in case you need to sell it, they have to keep the website as trendy as possible, in case they have to do that too  ... This analysis doesn't mean that I like "change" that much, don't take me wrong :giggle: but I'm trying to put myself in their place, to picture what their answer to your question #1 would be ;P

2- Ohh I know :faint: they screwed me with that big time :( ... not only the deviations requests are under the max 10 limit, but I noticed that when you want to add things to a group's favorites, the same limit is there  I've been trying to invite new artworks into one of my groups, which is new and focused on Vector Art (which already has a very small audience :grump:), and with that limit it will take me forever to grow its gallery :grump:

3- :iconhurrplz: Your wish is their command, Eric, here ---> Updated Gallery Favs Layout ;P just for you :meow:

4- Ohh please, let not be the llamas!!! :fingerscrossed: Let not be the llamas, please!!! :please: :giggle:

I'm pretty sure they DO KNOW what they're doing, they just don't want to share their info with YOU!!!  In yo face :badteethnana: :iconevestareplz:

Ok
I agree a company must keep current. However that leaves and has left DA out LONG ago.. they still have bugs in the main source coding for the site and everything else that isn't fixed. So what they are doing in essence is painting the site with water based paint during hurricane season.
They have no feedback loop where folks can find bugs and get them fixed.. just report them again and again and again to no avail.
thier customer service is THE worst I have ever seen anywhere online or off. They do not care to listen want to listen or discuss anything and only hand down mandates arbitrarily. Such a  company in the real world would have been closed or burned to the ground long ago and the management hanging from lightpolls.
The coding and servers leave HUGE holes in things  for exploitation from art thefts/dumps to logic bombs crashing the server. to even the security of each persons account is wide open to hacking. and that leaves out the stuff most folks see in advertisements which can and are used as inroads into the cache on your browsers for malware, spam and identity theft.
As I mentioned even 15ish years back on MySpace they had better protacals and security as well as maintenance and administrations working to build a better website..
Here its' almost Orwellian in how its done and run and the worst parts of Animal farm and 1984.
This is NOT the way to run a railroad unless it is desired to fail and with the dumb rules and bugs they keep doing they are just driving people away in droves.
Take your group you mentioned.. I know a thing or two about running one ( well several) and a few shortcuts and tricks to keep things going but they almost killed them with the max 10. if I had not created 5 separate ID's JUST so i could add artwork AND then added 10 empty folders so i could have overflow for requests I would have had to close them all for lack of the ability to keep any interest in the group... which groups generate a LOT more interest in folks stuff than DA's search or home page.

Oh and thanks for the link too. I already had found it but nice to send it off to AdministrationUnion group to get shared.. i assume you seen my post there.. if not here is a copy of what I wrote on it.

just HAD to make things more complicated and screw up the rest.
I do love how that infinite scrolling loads more into a persons browser both slowing it down, increasing the memory usage and helping it crash. Oh and  making the lag soooo much more prevalent.
Oh and the whole Notice AFTER" to let people know days later is at least better than when the idiotic "Max 10" rule was rammed down folks throat ( then lied ALL about everywhere or simply ignored by the DA administration... BTW you can turn the help desk back on now for the rest of DA to use, the intelligent among us know why you closed it) It would have been nice to know beforehand (even in Myspaces heyday the told people about maintenance before hand) but such secret behind the folks back stuff is now sadly expected from DA.
And of course the added bugs (even those mentioned) are expected to make things worse till they dont get fixed and just become part of the DA experience . I suppose competency is checking this stuff before its pushed on people would make far too much sense and of course cost money which would interfere with the pocket change for dope pizza n beer.
Besides it is SO much easier to just have the attitude of" Pay your Core membership, Shut up n deal with the crap we wanna dump on you when we feel like it." it does avoid the whole silly notion of responsibility as usual n expected on DA.

Eric
? & ?

I think Llamas would be a better option than those who run things now.

I also have serious doubts not just from this but from 10 years here on them knowing what they are doings FOR DA ( I know what they are doing TO DA)
and it's not a question of telling me they tell NO ONE.. even that post on the new layout is after the fact and 3 days late and it also has misinformation galore wrapped up in positive spin control.

Lol! Thanks for that! I saw it when looking at my journals. Hopefully, the little bugs they are facing will get fixed soon. I think your response to Eric-Huffman was spot on!
