News Around DA

This is a small compilation of some of the things that are currently happening around dA, for a full list of "happenings" visit the full folder HERE

Ya Gotta Go Your Own WayHello.  This is not Damien.  I’m his friend and next door neighbor.  He requested that I publish a journal to his DeviantArt account on his behalf.  He also instructed me not to pussy foot around the topic.
A few weeks ago, Damien went to sleep and did not wake up in the morning.  There was no funeral, nor a service.  He was cremated and his ashes mixed with his dogs.  The combined remains were given to his niece.
Without getting sappy, I’d like to say a few words before leaving because I haven’t really had the opportunity to say just how wonderful he was to anyone other than his closest relatives.  Damien was, by far, one of the best people I knew.  He always had a kind compliment, a story of outrageous shenanigans, a listening ear, and a glass of whiskey.  You could count on him for anything and he’d drop everything to help someone out.
I miss him terribly, and hated holding this information back from hi

Introducing loish
:iconloish:
My name is Lois van Baarle and I joined DeviantArt when I was just starting out with digital art, in 2003 - 13 years ago! I’ve always been really passionate about drawing digitally and also sharing my work and getting to know other artists. That’s why DeviantArt has always been so important to me. It’s been a way for me to find inspiration, learn new techniques, and get in touch with other artists.
My art is digital, and my main focus is on getting my art to show a lot of emotion. I try to do this through color use and by using nature, lighting and surreal imagery to give the drawing a poetic feel. I usually don’t have much of a backstory to th

The December stock shoot is probably going to be after Christmas since my social calendar this month is a taaaad full, plus I'm busting my doodling butt to get all the art done for my Magical Girl Coloring Book. :eager: It's going to be just me, most likely. If you're interested in getting new stock as it's created every month, you can do so through my Patreon (there's other awesome perks on there too like themed pack subscriptions).
If anyone wants to pick up one or both of the SenshiStock USB drives for the holidays, you will have to order before December 16th to ensure the drives arrive before Dec 25th. I am not sure what the shipping time is from the 3rd party printers for the

Hey everyone! My name is Adam and I am a multi-disciplinary artist and nursing student hailing from the Canadian prairies. Through the years I have fallen madly in love creating with many different art mediums (collage, photography, painting, poetry, and prose). My introduction into the art world began twelve years ago when I was a thirteen year old angsty pre-teen lurking on a book publisher forum. I was sent a link to my internet friends profile page that led me to this tight knit website affectionately called dA (that we all know and love). After working up the courage to create a profile I posted the first picture I had taken with the intent of creating a

Mobile Web UpliftThis week we released an update to the mobile web version of DeviantArt. We've uplifted the front page, browse, search, header, and navigation of the site.
The new front page and browse pages get a sleek new look with clean, accessible menus and filters. Daily Deviations get a prominent and interactive new carousel design, highlighting DeviantArt's hand-selected picks of the day. This carousel can be swiped to jump to the next or previous Daily Deviation.

Tapping the category bar lets you narrow your results by category, or by filter (Newest, Popular, What's Hot, etc.).
The new navigation gets a fresh and clean new look, focusing on simplicity and ease of use.

This is a first step in uplifting the mobile site, and as more and more deviants use DeviantArt on mobile devices, our goal is to make it easier to use on any device.

Hello, my name is Erin! I’m a stock artist, seamstress, crafter, and baker, among other things, but stock is my main focus here on DeviantArt. I have been on DA since 2007, where I first learned about what stock is and had the opportunity to use stock from some of the amazing artists here. I wanted to join in on the fun, so in 2008, I made my own stock account where I’ve been partying ever since. I love the stock community! Everyone is very welcoming, patient, and giving, and I’m so proud to be a part of this group of people.
In 2012, I was given the opportunity to be a CV for my favorite gallery and I eagerly joined th
     What is Core Membership?
Earlier today, DeviantArt released an announcement explaining what "Core Membership Is..."  To complement that announcement, I've penned a few of my own thoughts about what Core Membership means to me.
DeviantArt owes its existence to its community. The inspiring, pulsating life force that began 15 years ago with a small group of artists and art appreciators has grown more than anyone could have ever imagined. A true force of motivation and support on the Web, our community is one-of-a-kind in its service to the artistic greater good. And it always has been.
Whether you take the extra moment to answer a Note from a student of art hoping to learn from you, leave a thought-provoking comment on a moving piece of art, or simply watch a deviant, you are invested in your fellow artistic man, and that has all happened naturally from day one. The fact that you're here,

Tags are the new KeywordsKeywords on deviations were built to be an important tool to help discover artwork. But as deviantART grows and strives to create new ways to discover great content, we’ve found that keywords as we currently use them have become underutilized.  We think we can do better -- and can make a better experience for the community -- by making some changes.
In the coming month, keywords will transition into tags, and we’ll be improving the way they work. Tags will better surface artwork, allow deviants to form communities around topics, make it easier to find other artists and art appreciators, and increase discoverability.
For example, if you're a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles it can be difficult to know what to search for: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ninja Turtles, TMNT, Donatello, etc.  Public tags provide visibility to see how others are tagging their deviations, which will allow you to align your behavior to the norm, or ch

Cleaning-up Site Naming

As mentioned in last week’s Beginnings of Site Simplification journal and the new DeviantArt Timeline, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to make DeviantArt a simplified and unified experience — ultimately leading to increased participation from new and longtime deviants, adding more favourites, comments, and deviousness to the site as a whole.
Because DeviantArt has been around for nearly 15 years, we recognize that the site has accumulated a number of terms, words, and names for our various features and functions — some of which have multiple or similar meanings, and many of which increase confusion around how the site works.
We understand that DeviantArt is a community of artists from around the world who will use all kinds of creative expressions to descr

Suicide and Self-harm Prevention
Are you going through a difficult time?
If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm and are in immediate danger, seek help as soon as possible by calling a local emergency telephone number, a suicide prevention hotline, or by going to the nearest emergency room.
At DeviantArt, we care deeply about our community – aiming to provide all our members with a safe and fun environment to create and grow.  However, we do not have trained medical professionals who can respond directly to life-threatening emergencies.  Please use the following resources if you are concerned about the safety of a DeviantArt member – including yourself.

Top Community Feature Requests and Our Responses
In May, we introduced the DeviantArt Timeline as a method of communicating with deviants and providing transparency about what’s planned for our collective future. During the site simplification process that followed, we received a number of comments from deviants asking why we were working on the features presented on the Timeline instead of other things. Many of the features brought up in these comments are ones that have been requested for years. We want to be more transparent about these suggested features, why some of them haven’t happened yet, and why some of them may never happen.
These requests are from past Site Updates, the Suggestions Forum, surveys, and individual requests we’ve received.

Introducing the DeviantArt Muro Drip Brush

“It’s just a bunch of dribbles and it’s a mess” is the likely reaction to both a kindergartener’s first attempts with paints and to the signature works of Jackson Pollock. Of all the abstract painters, Jackson Pollock was the easiest to dismiss while, in many ways, was the most complex in the concepts he hoped to covey with his famous drip paintings.
World War II had ended and like wars before had exposed many to horrors touching the depths of the human psyche and challenging its very sense of humanity. The use of atomic weapons, firestorm bombings of major cities and the revelations of mass genocides created a new sense of anxiety for everyone. Processing these feelings was difficult. Pollock in these paintings was doing exactly that and more — an attempt to transmit anxiety with a form of visual exorcism with results that could be as beautiful as they are, at times, dark.

    Introducing the Premium Content Platform

DeviantART is proud to announce our Premium Content Platform
Providing the ability for content creators to become sellers and generate real earnings by making digital files of their high-quality work available for download. Sellers are able to set their own prices while retaining 80% of all revenue earned, and buyers are able to quickly get the things they want with the satisfaction of supporting the artists they love.
What is Premium Content?
The Premium Content Platform was built to represent high-quality content — the premier pieces in an artist's repertoire of work. We encourage the sale of everything from comics or stories for download, to high-res files like .PSDs, textures, tutorials, brush packs, and more!

Submit to deviantART Directly From SketchBook AppsDeviantART is proud to announce that SketchBook users on iPad and Android tablets now have the ability to create and submit art directly from their devices to deviantART!
Our recent partnership with Autodesk has allowed deviantART to become the first community integrated into SketchBook -- the professional-grade painting app that is easy to use for every artist.  Merging these two powerhouse environments means that tablet users will be able to publish their creations from SketchBook directly to their deviantART accounts.  Deviants will also be able to use the app to browse the inspirational works of other SketchBook artists in the autodesk-sketchbook group.
This is a first step in what will become a much fuller integration that will bring more deviousness to SketchBook and add a powerful creation tool to the arsenals of deviant artists everywhere, as we welcome new SketchBook users into the deviantART community.

How do you find other deviants?
DeviantArt is a vast community with over 35 million registered deviants.  As such, it can be hard to find people you know or artists you might be interested in watching.  As part of our recent initiative to simplify and unify the DeviantArt experience, we're looking into new and easier ways to find help you find deviants you want to interact with.
We recently posted this question in the Forums to get a sense for how best to improve these circumstances, and now we're interested in hearing from the community at large.

Discover more of your favorite topics.

Tags create landing pages around topics — making it easier to discover related artwork, bringing together artists and art appreciators, and forming communities around common interests. As DeviantArt grows and creates new ways to discover great content, we believe tags will play an important role in better surfacing artwork.
Tag Deviations, Collections, and Status Updates
You now have the ability to tag your deviations and Collections. Tags added to your deviations will be publicly viewable — this is a change from the previous use of keywords, which were private. Visitors can learn about your work by viewing how you tagged it, and can find more works by you and other deviants based on tags. Tags can also be used in comments, Status Updates, Journals, and Collections.

In my mind, I became a photographer when I was a child. I marveled at our family slideshows, projected onto a white sheet on the wall, in our darkened living room. Those beautiful slices of time, floating in beams of dusty light, cheered by the small crowd at every snap, made me realize how much I wanted to take pictures.
I grew up in the outskirts of Lisbon, Portugal, and I travelled the world through the photographs of great masters. I studied every detail, wondered about their adventures, and dreamed of my own. Now I live in Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, where I fell in love with nature and its culture too, of course, and I found myself b

What's going on with DeviantArt?There's a lot of changes going on with DeviantArt, and we recognize that this is irritating. We don't want it to be irritating, but unfortunately we don't have a choice.
DeviantArt must transform. The live product is failing to interest as many new members as it used to. We've identified many of the reasons for this, and we're making transformative changes to help new users adopt DeviantArt. We especially want new users to come in and Watch Deviants, and begin conversing about Art. Ultimately we want new Deviants to post Deviations and contribute to the community. DeviantArt is meant as the place to support people in the world as they become more creative in their lives. As a community, we represent the journey of being a more creative person.
The current state of DeviantArt isn't adequately communicating our value to new members. And the products they are using confuse them. We've interviewed new members on the phone, in surveys, via email. We know what the issues are.

Watch Recommendations
A few months ago, we released Watch Recommendations to new deviants -- a feature that suggests deviants to watch for those who have just joined DeviantArt.  The aim being to match new deviants with active deviants -- ones who represent the depth and breadth of all DeviantArt.com has to offer.
Starting today, we’re adding deviant recommendations to your watch.

The new Watch Recommendations will display occasionally in your watch, suggesting deviants you might be interested in following. Deviants who appear as recommendations include people who have proven to be friendly and engaging in the community, as well as deviants who have reached a standard of artistic excellence.
If you find a deviant that you’re not interested in, simply click the “x” button and you won’t see that deviant again.
The Watch Recommendations feature is exp

My main tools are pencil & colour pencils and while I didn’t go to art school, drawing is my passion. It’s hard to believe that I joined DeviantArt 10 years ago! When I first joined, I was so confused and didn’t know how to use DeviantArt, so after I created the account, I left it. About 5 months later, I came back and started to share my work. My first work was not even a drawing, it was a photo :P. Then, I enjoyed finding new, amazing artists and was awed

Mysteries of the Blank page watchers

When you first join Deviant Art  as A new user
you are asked to watch 5 people and their Art
so I assume  they watch people who have cool stuff
and that is where the blank watchers come from
some stay and some only come for any downloads maybe

But it is just like it is mentioned in this Journal here

So I was wondering about all this blank page watchers so i got me a yahoo account
and

DA, you so silly!UPDATE: It looks like the faq was updated again to reflect that this only affects raffles where you pay something in to participate.. which to me looks like we're back to the original no lotteries rule which is cool by me.
So,
I'm sure you guys all remember everyone freaking out last week about the raffles/lotteries right?  Let me start off by apologizing to all of you that I told you were over reacting and that DA is not a derbis that wouldn't allow raffles which don't require you to pay in (lotteries) etc.. All will be well, I said :lmao:
Alright, looks like the faq was updated (or is it a brand new one even?  I don't know)

Beta Test: New Thumbnail GridIn June, we announced an upcoming thumbnail grid. Today, we’re releasing the thumbnail grid and new thumb sizes to Beta Testers – and we need your keen eyes! :sherlock:
Highlights of the new thumbnails include:
Bigger thumbnails and a new grid system allows more emphasis to be placed on art.
The old grid leaves uneven or irregular gaps between images, while our new grid maximizes screen space to create a wall of beautifully displayed deviations.
The new thumbnail grid is optimized for bandwidth. Images will use slightly more bandwidth, but less bandwidth used across multiple pages.
Thumbnails are optimized for retina and high-resolution screens.
We put special care into the look of non-standard image types, such as literature, pixel art, and emoticons ensure that kinds of art are featured respectfully and beautifully.

    NEW WATCH DISCUSSION
Last fall we introduced a new page in DeviantArt's primary navigation called Watch. Watch, which has been in beta since launch,  aggregates activity from the deviants and groups you watch (aka follow).  There’s no doubting the convenience of visiting your Notifications to view the latest deviation submissions and other updates (like journals, critiques, and polls) from the deviants you watch, but it’s not a great way to view and engage with art.  That’s why we’re continuing to explore new ways to improve a standalone Watch experience.
Our initial idea was designed around a sequential stream of activity – including deviations, journals, collections, status updates, polls, forum threads, and critiques. It's a feed – and our new ideas wi

Answer to the New Watchers QuestionI got a note from an admin today. The watchers thing is nothing to worry about, apparently, and they aren't bots.
quoth the admin:
"There have been some recent updates to the way new users are greeted during the signup process. To help acclimate them to the community they are encouraged to watch deviants which will then populate their Watch Feed with awesome content for them to interact with. Our Watch Recommendations feature includes a mix of community and artistically minded deviants. Because Watch Recommendations are only available to new deviants – those who’ve just joined DeviantArt.com – it was important for us to represent the depth and breadth of all DeviantArt.com has to offer. This includes deviants who have proven to be friendly and community-active, as well as deviants who have reached a standard of artistic excellence. "
admin also goes on to say that 1. if you have received a DD recently, then you pop up as a Watch Recommendation and 2. this Watch Recomm

WHY YOUR MENTIONS DON'T WORK                Hello everyone
This journal contains very important information for all of us so I ask you to please share it so other people can see it and know this isn't a bug.
Over the last month I've had trouble in sending mentions and possibly receiving them as well. I've posted two journals, one on August 5th and one on August 25th in which I tagged and featured people, but I was surprised and confused when people told me they didn't receive my mentions. WHY, I asked myself. I posted a comment on both the journals in which I copy-pasted all the people I tagged originally, but they didn't get the notification this time either. WHY, I asked myself again.

We all have our way of using DeviantArt to engage and build relationships with other Deviants around art. We submit deviations and the community kicks into gear with comments, favs, shares and new watchers. But there are times when engagement is not as high, or it doesn't happen as quickly as normal.
We're thinking of a place dedicated to kindred activities (engagement prompts) that you could do for the Deviants in your community.
You might ask — How is that any different from how I comment, favourite and share right now?
WELL, HERE’S THE ANSWER:
The deviations and Deviants you engage with will be aligned with the Kindred spirit of the DeviantArt community. In other words, they will be surfaced here because they may not have received the love and consideration they deserve.
Getting a fave or a comment on a work-in-progress could be more valuable than waiting for feedback on the finished piece.

Video of Chris and I closing down DA's coloTLDR; The entirety of DA was physically moved from one place to another over the past 3 weeks. WHA??! Insanity. Here's a video of us shutting down the old colocation facility and feeling pretty good about it.
LONG VERSION; On August 26, 2015, Chris Bolt (chris)  and I went to downtown LA where DeviantArt was hosted to dismantle the last of the colocation facility we inhabited for 13 years. DeviantArt has completed its transition to AWS after a long, long process that has taken chris and his team probably the better part of this year to complete. THANKS PAUL! banks, and JESSICA! petralfire - It's amazing to me how insanely complicated such a transition is, and how little the site was affected by it. We did have a glitch or two, here or there, especially the past 3 weeks, so if you experienced such a thing it was due to this wide scale transition. But on the whole? So smooth.
This is of course due to the brilliance of my brother from anoth

Core is an announcement of material commitment to the future of DeviantArt. Core is the fuel supporting the momentum that leads us forward in building a stable, strong future with the innovations necessary for the community to survive and to thrive.
Core Members receive special privileges in return for their commitment — and the greatest of these are the thanks and gratitude of the community. We call it Core because Core Members sustain us at the core.

I highly recommend reading them as he explains several features and talks about Core membership including admitting they should have made a more formal announcement.  Read the comments too as he further discusses things with people that comment.
Coffee to the COREFor those who are upset about CORE, you're right. We should have made a more formal announcement when we released to express the new CORE brand and what it means to us and you, and if nothing else in the interest of transparency. More information about CORE to follow this week. But even more importantly, you will see the release of many new Timeline elements that will give you much greater transparency into DeviantArt's direction as a whole.
Let's talk about coffee for a minute. Cuz it's Saturday, and I woke up and thought about coffee a lot this morning.
I bought a Nespresso machine a few months back. Boy do I like it. I also like my french press. The thing is, Nespresso capsules cost $1.10 and make 1 cup, and I tend to drink two cups in the morning. When I wake up, and on the drive to DA HQ. I've had this theory that I should drink Nespresso on mornings that I work, and I should use the french press in the evenings and on weekends when I have more time. Because the nespresso sa

DeviantArt and Angry MobsDue to the nature of DeviantArt it is quite easy to perceive that there's "a lot of people" who are upset with any given thing, enough so that you could even believe that "everyone" believes the same thing.
I felt that perhaps the community would like me to explain how DeviantArt views these types of things.
First of all, DeviantArt, Inc. is extremely deliberate. We don't do anything accidentally. Everything that hits the community is the result of a team collaboration that usually take weeks or months to complete. And so when we make mistakes they are felt by a group here or by our whole team.
Things you should know:
First of all you must believe that our team is 100% motivated to ensure that DA is healthy, and that decisions we make turn out to be better than how things were before. Each decision is likely to affect different pockets of people, and so you will always see the group that's unhappy pool together. The happy group is happy, so they don't tend to band toget

Is this a hoax?

No. There were concerns with the authenticity of the new 'copyright bill' at first, but now after much digging and research, due to the combined effort of fellow deviants, this has been cleared up.
Brollonks brought it to my attention that this is indeed real.
Homophones proved that the "legislation" is actually just a "notice of inquiry". That means that it is a hearing where comments and opinions are invited, but no rules have as yet been proposed. I challenge you......to self-suggest!
Today I'd like to challenge you to send me self-suggestions of your own photography. As Community Volunteers we all encourage members to self-suggest; however, many still feel too shy or embarrassed to do so. Well, perhaps by challenging you to, you might feel more comfortable sending me a self-suggestion!
So go check out your body of work here on DA, and decide if there are any photographs you believe are worthy of becoming a Daily Deviation! Please only send me suggestions that I can actually feature, of course. Here's a quick recap:
Abstract and Surreal, Architecture, Commercial (excluding Fashion), Conceptual, Darkroom, Fireworks, Humorous, Infrared, Other, People & Portraits (Body Art, Classic Portraits, Emotive Portraits, Expressive, Infants and Children, Other, Self-Portraits, Spontaneous Portraits, Weddings), Still Life, Street, Transportation, and Urban and Rural.
So don't be shy! And spread the word if you'd like, the more the merrier. Ge

The dAWishingWell makeover - The conclusion:icondawishingwell:
Last month, we started the dAWishingWell makeover, making changes to add new features to the group and simplify others. Here are all the changes we made and those who will start with the future.
Group layout
Since June, we changed the profile page, trimming it a lot and trying to make things easier to find. We also revamped the dAWishingWell rules and The Showcase. We still have some work to do like incorporating our new mascot to our group and journals design and making some adjustments to the journals CSS.
AffiliationInstead of having to make a journal advertising dAWishingWell in their group, admins wanting to be our affiliate must tell, in the comment section of the request, why they want to affiliate with us. We understand that you might not want to advertise other groups in yours. But also, we want to affiliate with active groups who really care about us.

To suggest a daily deviation, please send me a note titled "Daily Deviation Suggestion" or something along those lines. Please include a thumbnail of your suggestion, and preferably a reason why you feel it deserves a Daily Deviation. If you have multiple suggestions, feel free to include them all in 1 single note, so long as it's organized and clear. Before suggesting a Daily Deviation please check to see that the deviant has not received a DD in the past 6 months. To do so, simply go on the deviant's profile and add /dds at the end of their url (ex: hosagu.deviantart.com/dds, and no, I don't have any DD's :)). Photography Newsletter This month I'd like to talk about a recent Daily Deviation. It was a self suggestion, I know that the photographer won't mind me saying this and he's immensely proud of his work, that much was clear when we talked.

hotamr suggested his Colours of Ramadam series to me and as soon as I saw the image I responded that the series was nice, but it looked very much like photo-manipulation. So hotamr took the time to walk me through all of the steps that he took, the lengths he went to and the hours he spent on getting the final product. I urge you to read his interview at the Phoblographer for more information. Check it out here. It was nice to be reminded of the traditional lengths that can be taken to achieve a shot rather than be walked through the history of Photoshop editing. Both do have their merits - what do you prefer?

The street photographs on DA
I hereby on DeviantArt enjoy watching many different street photography Artists. Some of them are total street photographers, dedicating their passion to it... And others are doing street but not only.
I find interesting that there are many styles emphasized through their shots, showing eventually as alreaday seen during the week that Street Photography is not that narrow and can be very eclectic, in its own representation and definition...
So who are they?
I recommend to watch and give love to all of these artists... Heart

The chats and forums (chat, forum) are places where you can interact with other DeviantArt members. The forums are divided into 9 different categories, and feature 25 (28 if you're a premium member and senior) different forums with different purposes in which you can post threads and comment on other peoples' threads. The chatrooms are limitless, in that hundreds of chatrooms exist in which you can join! However, DeviantArt has its official and CR run chatrooms where you might want to venture first! All in all, the chats and forums are a great way to meet new people, get your artwork seen, blow off some steam, joke around with people, and just have some fun!

DEVIOUSNESS

To Quote Moonbeam13 ~
DestinyBlue is one of DeviantArt's most recognized and beloved artists. She is a long-term deviant who regularly pours her heart and soul into the community, and spends much of her time each day leaving thoughtful, helpful comments for other artists on their work. In addition to the kindness and energy she puts forth into the community, her art is instantly recognizable, covering a variety of themes that any viewer can appreciate and connect with. It is our pleasure to name DestinyBlue the recipient of the Deviousness Award for July 2015.

Introducing DestinyBlue
:iconDestinyBlue:
“It's probably a true to say I would not be a professional artist were it not for DeviantArt. When I joined the site 11 years ago I didn't want to be an artist, I just wanted to draw; I never imagined this place would help carve my career in art. But then I never expected a lot of what happened to me to happen. My early works were filled with fantasy, but art grew to be more than just a creative outlet for me, it grew to be an emotional one. As times got darker so did my work, drawing gave me a channel to explore and express my feelings, and through DeviantArt, I could connect, and it's been these personal connections, to thousands of people, of

Collaborative Deviations: A Discussion
A common request from deviants is to post collaborative deviations, where more than one deviant has worked to create the end product. In our recent Top Community Feature Requests and Our Responses journal, we briefly addressed why we haven’t yet undertaken collaborative deviations.  However, we want to open a discussion around how collaborations could theoretically work, so that we can better understand the community’s desires for such a feature.
Simple vs. Complex
We've already put a fair amount of thought into collaborations, but don't want to make assumptions about around how deviants would use the feature to best serve their needs.  From simple to complex, there are a number of ways we could implement collaborations and we’re interested to hear the community’s expectations.

Copyright InfrigementGuys, this is serious and I need your help.
Few days ago it came up an important and serious situation between me and few friends. We found out that a publishing house had violated all the copyrights on their book covers. How? They simply took the images from Google, edited and published the book with these images.
It wouldn’t be so serious if it wasn’t from the fact that all the images are copyrighted.
And with this I mean, ALL the images in ALL the bookcovers.
At first, we tried to talk with one of the editors, because we thought that maybe they had contracted someone to do the covers and didn’t knew about the infringements,  but he decided that there was nothing wrong with that and that thousands of people does that and he would like to see if there would be someone to sue him for doing it and try to stop him.
After we found out that he is actually the one who made most of the covers, my friend tried to reason with him, but the result was very unpl

So many of you may have noticed the soft announcement of the Stock-Mentor group. We would like to move forward with plans for the group so we can get things rolling.
What we need from you are your ideas! What kind of projects would you like to have? Would you like to have games or scavenger hunts with prizes?
We will be paring those that wish to be a mentor with those that wish to be mentored during projects. We would also like to see Mentors participating by publishing How-To articles or tutorials. We would eventually like to partner with other learning based groups for different mediums for projects. We will be having chat events and contests in the future as well.
Please comment below and let us know whether you would like to be a Mentor or a Mentee. We will be making a list for future reference. This way mentees will have a directory they can refer to when or if they have a question about the Stock & Resources gallery/submissions/projects.

Quick note about DDsHey all,
Just a quick message to say that I will not feature the same deviant twice, so if you find a deviant who has great photography you'd like to suggest, but you see that I featured their last DD, it would be best to send your suggestion to tiganusi or Kaz-D. Just my personal preference, I don't like the idea of DDing the same person over and over, when someone can look at their gallery with fresh eyes, or when we can also find different artists to feature.
Another quick note is that I cannot feature Fashion photography anymore, so it would be best to send those to Moonbeam13 right now. I love seeing the suggestions of amazing fashion photos, but I just can't do anything with them, so best send them to someone who can :)
If any of you have any questions about what I'll feature as a DD, what I can or cannot feature, or other general preferences I have, feel free to leave a comment.
