We all see them around DeviantArt … they do WONDERFUL things for this community in one way or another … we admire them; we love them; we would LOVE to get to know them a little more … Well now is your chance to see how they are, how they think, how ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL they are!!!
Today we will get the chance to look into Exillior ’s heart … She’s one of the Community Volunteers who takes care of two galleries, the Body Art gallery inside Traditional Art, and the Body Art gallery inside People and Portraits (Photography) … Do you want to peek into her heart??? Well, COME ON!!! Let’s go meet the “human” behind the username!!!
I'm a kid who is easily pleased. I consider myself to be more an appreciator of art than an artist; I write stories; and in real life I'm a doctor - the kind that runs around with a stethoscope (for real!).
What do you enjoy the most about your own DA experience?
If I am to pick one single thing, it's the ability to connect with so many incredible artists - not just to learn about their art, but to learn about their lives, to get a glimpse in the world of somebody you admire and that, 25 years back, wouldn't be possible. We take something like dA for granted but actually... life was very different not so very long ago.
What brings joy into your life outside of DA?
Two things bring me joy. These two things are 1. my friends and 2. the little things in life. My friends are incredible, and have been by my side through thick and thin - sometimes years go by and I can't really talk to them, but still they remain there for me. As to the little things... well, sometimes a simple thing like a pizza can be extremely epic, you know?
If you could have ONE wish fully granted in life, what would be that one thing you would call "A dream come true"?
Ah. At the cost of being selfish, I would wish for inequalities in life to be eradicated: for everybody to have similar access to life, to healthcare, to food, to shelter, to opportunities... Not everybody takes them, of course, but if only those that did, didn't have to make such ginormous sacrifices sometimes, while it comes so easy to others.
What is in your opinion your BEST quality as a human being?
Oh. Well, I would like to say it's my skill with a needle on people but that would sound rather wrong, so... I guess it would be my willingness to improve. I'm a very imperfect person - in fact I was a monster when I was much younger - but now I'm living proof that nothing is beyond hope.
If a time machine was invented and you could travel in time to any period of your life, which one would you like to revisit? Would you try to change anything about that time?
I would only revisit if it's possible to come back to the time I'm currently in. I'd go back to two times in specific: 1. When I was teeny and my brothers were both around and my world revolved around building makeshift houses with my mother's scarves, swimming in the lagoon every weekend, and watching my brother playing computer games; and 2. when I had my dogs.
I wouldn't change anything. In the end, no matter how hard you try to change something... you have no idea how exactly things are still going to turn out.
What is your true passion in life?
This will sound odd but... hope. The thing I am the most passionate about is having hope. About my friends, about the future, about life. Without hope there is nothing.
What occupies your thoughts during most of the day?
Oh. My characters. For the past few years they've decided they need to live independent lives of their own, and now there is no telling them to go away. Not that I would. I like knowing about their lives. Unlike many other people... my characters tell me all the stuff. I don't "make them" a certain way. And this pretty much occupies my mind 24/7.
What does "LOVE" mean to you?
Ah. Well, the thing that other people call "love", to me is a state in which people construct something fictional which they think is so-and-so, and they are obsessed with this construct and think they are attached to it... and this enables them to justify all sorts of demands on the person in question. I think true love is when you actually want to know more about somebody, when you are incredibly curious about them, when you genuinely want to see them smile, when you will stand by them and hold their hand when the times are rough for them, and when people hurt them you tell them to walk away from those bastards. So, in conclusion - it's mostly impossible.
What is your favorite quote?
Nietzche, translated from the original German quote to mean roughly: "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. For when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you."
I think that although it's a very epic kind of quote, it applies perfectly to everyday life... especially on the internet, where everybody has the free choice of being a Japanese teenage girl, a fifty year old pervert or an armchair doctor... among other things.
